The Science Specialists engages students in learning experiences utilizing the schoolyard habitat and gardens. Students work collaboratively to inquire about our environment using a variety of modern equipment and tools. Casita encourages environmental stewardships through our science labs.

The area provides the opportunity to participate in outdoor education such as, citizen science, watershed education, wildlife observation using a remote-sensored camera, art in nature, Native American studies, and a variety of other activities. This approximately 2 acre area features tree-stump seating, shaded outdoor learning lab, nature trails, owl/bat boxes, student designed habitat structures, and is planted with California Coastal Sage Scrub.
